Chances come from average bookmaker prices where available, otherwise our own estimate from this season's results and home advantage. "Survive" is win or draw, the only result that matters in Survivor. Form shows each club's last five completed league games (oldest to newest).

How to read the Premier League fixtures in a last man standing league

In a normal fixture list you look for the winner. In a survivor league you are looking for the game least likely to end in a defeat for your pick, which is a different question entirely. A strong side away at a well-organised mid-table team is often a worse survivor bet than a solid home side hosting a struggling club, even though the bookmakers make the first team more likely to win.

Three things move the needle most. Home advantage is still worth roughly a third of a goal across a Premier League season, so a home fixture materially lifts the chance of avoiding defeat. Opponent quality matters less than opponent shape — sides that sit deep and defend concede fewer surprise results than open, attacking teams. And congestion counts: clubs playing European football midweek, or arriving off a long away trip, drop points at a noticeably higher rate.

Kickoff times matter for a practical reason too. Your pick locks at the first kickoff of the gameweek, so a Friday night fixture shortens your deadline for the whole week. If your league runs on WhatsApp, that Friday game is the moment to nudge anyone who has not picked yet.

One last habit that separates the players who last until spring: plan two or three gameweeks ahead rather than one. Because you can only use each club once, spending a title contender on an easy home game in Gameweek 5 can leave you short of safe options in the busy December run of matches. Scan the fixture list for the weeks where the big sides all face each other, and save a couple of dependable clubs for exactly those weeks.
