Every club gets an estimated chance of avoiding defeat in this week's fixture. That estimate is driven mainly by club strength versus the specific opponent, adjusted for home advantage and updated after every result. Recent form is folded in second, and small samples are pulled back toward the league average so two lucky draws can't push a weak side to the top. Under standard rules a win or a draw keeps you alive (hosts can change that), so we rank by not losing — not by looking impressive.
